Technology must serve people
The Government Blockchain Association believes that technology must serve people. Members, leaders and staff are expected to hold to a common set of principles in everything they do in the name of the association.
- 01
Technology for the public good
Blockchain and emerging technologies should be applied to improve the lives of people and the effectiveness of the institutions that serve them, not merely to advance a commercial interest.
- 02
Quality of life
GBA supports the use of technology to improve the quality of life of citizens and the communities in which they live and work.
- 03
Rights and dignity
The rights, privacy and dignity of every citizen must be respected in the design and operation of public technology. Systems should not be built in ways that diminish either.
- 04
Justice and liberty
GBA supports the use of technology in ways that advance justice, liberty and the rule of law, and opposes its use for oppression or unlawful surveillance.
- 05
Transparency and accountability
Public institutions are accountable to the people they serve. Technology should make that accountability easier to demonstrate, not harder.
